Jefferson County currently employs over 900 election judges from all walks of life. Many of our judges have served admirably for years. Judges perform many duties from checking voters in the precinct roster to distributing ballots. Our dedicated judges are responsible for the smooth elections and the good reputation that the Jefferson County elections office currently enjoys!

As citizens, we owe a debt of gratitude to all who serve as election judges!

Election Judge Information

  • An election judge receives $150 for working each election.
  • A supervisor judge receives $200 for working each election.
  • Election judges receive $25 for training.

Supervisor judges are responsible for returning some election materials to the County Clerk on election night. (Supervisors do receive mileage reimbursement.)

Judges must arrive at their assigned polling place by 5 am on the day of the election.

Polls close at 7 pm on election day.
