| The County Counselor for Jefferson County represents the County government on all legal issues. This representation includes but is not limited to day-to-day advice to the elected officeholders and department heads, representation of officeholders in civil litigation, and review and drafting of county contracts, including plans relating to employee health and retirement benefits.
Additionally, the county counselor enforces violations of the county ordinances, including county building and zoning ordinances. These violations are investigated by the appropriate county departments and the results of the investigation are then forwarded to the county counselor for prosecution. |
