ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for assuring public health and safety by limiting public exposure to stray, diseased or aggressive animals by patrolling the community to enforce animal control ordinance violations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Must have valid Missouri Commercial Driver's License
- One (1) year experience working with a variety of predominantly domestic animals preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of animal control ordinances and practices and the ability to analyze and determine practices or actions that will address problems.
- Ability to control, lift and carry large animals.
- Ability to work well with others, and to represent the County in a professional manner.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills and the ability to resolve problems with tact and diplomacy.
- Good organizational skills and knowledge of office procedures required in processing work orders and animal dispositions.
- Ability to work weekends/holidays/after hours on a rotational basis

Animal Control Kennel Laborer II
Division of Animal Control

POSITION SUMMARY
Performs labor work cleaning and sanitizing kennels and general grounds maintenance, which includes grass cutting, weed trimming, trash pickup and snow and ice removal. Cleaning duties include general sweeping, mopping, disinfecting and scrubbing of the Animal Control facilities and kennels that become unsanitary or offensive to the public.
Assists public as necessary, as well as officers in removing animals from vehicles and putting them in cages, animal intake processes and record keeping, and with adoption processes including handling of animals for viewing and application completion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Animal handling techniques helpful
- Red Cross Pet First Aid Training desirable
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of simple, routine or repetitive tasks, operations and skill to operate simple equipment that operates repetitively, such as lawn mower, weed eater, tools commonly used in carpentry and construction, and housekeeping.
- Ability to lift, carry and push moderately heavy objects and materials, 50 to 75 pounds, such as dogs and other animals.
- Ability to walk on undeveloped properties and uneven pavements.
- Ability to recognize and identify similarities or differences between colors, shapes, and sounds such as identifying animal body language signals and sounds of distress.
- Ability to work well with others, and to represent the County in a professional manner.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills and the ability to resolve problems with tact and diplomacy.

TRANSPORT WORKER (Part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to provide safe and secure transportation for the juvenile residents that come within the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Court, Twenty-Third Judicial Circuit. Transport workers shall be authorized to operate county-owned and county-licensed vehicles that have been specifically designated for the transportation of juveniles. The worker shall be authorized to use restraining devices for safety and security purposes while performing transport duties. The worker shall generate reports and all other documentation as required by program guidelines or as required by the Juvenile Officer. Close supervision is received from and work is reviewed by the Detention Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a minimum of a high school diploma, or its equivalent.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a current and valid Missouri Chauffeur's License with at least a Class E rating.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Basic knowledge of juvenile courts and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of Missouri statutes and laws regarding juvenile cases.
- Basic knowledge of Juvenile Office services/programs and community resources.
- Basic knowledge of Defensive Driving Skills.
- Ability to display a professional image through conduct exhibited and through the effective and efficient performance of transport duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing direct and appropriate care to the juvenile residents
placed with Jefferson County Children's Home in accordance with established
policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure the rights and privileges of the
juvenile residents are not abridged in any manner. Performs routine
housekeeping duties as directed; maintains and generates log entries' reports
and all other documentation as required by policies, procedures and guidelines.

Performs a variety of complex and responsible legal, confidential, and administrative duties. Researches and organizes court documents for attorneys at the circuit level and performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED) and 3 years of progressively responsible legal secretary experience in a legal environment; or
- Paralegal Certification or Associate's Degree in a closely related field and/or 3 years of progressively responsible legal secretarial experience in a legal environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of civil and criminal procedures including knowledge of legal terminology, forms, documents, procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of legal reference publications, including content, and knowledge of methods used in legal research.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Possess strong computer skills. Mastery of "Microsoft Word" is required. Experience with "Microsoft Office" spreadsheet applications desirable.
- Successfully pass pre-employment testing in Microsoft Word, Excel, typing (40 words per minute), reading, spelling, grammar, arithmetic, and basic algebra.
- Excellent organizational skills, the ability process documents with a minimum level of supervision, and maintain attorney scheduling are required.
