About the Code Enforcement Division

The Solid Waste Department was formed in 1989 to enforce the County Solid Waste Ordinance. In 1997, the responsibility for enforcement of the Zoning Order was given to the Code Enforcement Department. The routine duties of Zoning Officer have been returned to the Zoning Division. In 1999,the responsibility for enforcement of the Jefferson County Building Code and On-Site Sewage Ordinance were assigned to the Code Enforcement Division.
