Tax Appeal Forms

All taxpayers are encouraged to discuss their assessment dispute with the

County Assessor's Office.  If an agreement can not be reached, taxpayers may

download the necessary appeal forms to schedule a hearing before

the Board of Equalization.

Appeal from assessment--form--time for filing.

 

137.385. Any person aggrieved by the assessment of his property

may appeal to the county board of equalization and the forms to

be used for this purpose SHALL be furnished by the county clerk.

Such appeal shall be lodged with the county clerk as secretary of the

board of equalization before the 3rd Monday in June; provided that

the board may in its discretion extend the time for filing such appeals.

 

***UPDATED December 2016---The Board of Equalization has extended

        the deadline to appeal to the 2nd Monday in July 2017 in

        accordance with 137.385.***

 

Note:  All appeal forms must be completed and received

          by the Department of the County Clerk before any

          hearing will be scheduled.

 

Any forms that are NOT properly completed or any form that is omitted

that is required to be submitted may cause that particular appeal to be

dismissed by the Board of Equalization.

 

Any person who wishes to distribute written testimony or evidence

on his appeal should prepare Five (5) copies of any documents.

One (1) copy for each member of the Board of Equalization,

One (1) copy for the Secretary of the Board, and

One (1) copy for the Assessor's Office.

 

***UPDATED October 2015---Taxpayers are welcome to attend any Board meeting.  Any correspondence from the taxpayer to the Board MUST be done through the Secretary of the Board of Equalization.  It is inappropriate for any taxpayer to contact the members of the Board outside of an official Board meeting.

 

 

All appeal forms must be returned to the County Clerk's Office.
