Adopt a Pet/Lost and Found

    Adopt a Pet

You must be at least 18 years old and apply in person. If you rent, we ask your landlord's permission before releasing the pet. The adoption process involves completing an adoption agreement form and meeting with an adoption counselor who will ask you about your home and your plans to care for your new pet.  We have kittens, adult cats, purebreds and alley cats, as well as puppies, small and large adult dogs of pure and mixed breed.  Many of our animals are already house trained.  In accordance with state laws, all animals adopted from our facility must be spayed or neutered, before being released to the new owners.

Animals available for adoption may be found at  Jeffcomo.Animalshelternet.com or  Petfinder.com. (Use 63012 for the zip code.)   All of our animals are identified by a six digit ID number.  If interested, please contact the Jefferson County Animal Control Division at 636-797-5577 with the animal ID number for additional information and the adoption fee schedule.

    Lost and Found

County Animal License Tags - Tag numbers are provided to area veterinarians to aid in returning lost pets to their owners.  The charge for a one-year license tag is $10.00 per tag and the charge for a three-year license tag is $30.00.

All incoming animals are scanned with our new universal micro-chip reader.  The universal reader helps us to identify the owner of family pets, implanted with an identifying micro-chip, and reunite the pet with their owner.  Our staff will be able to perform a full-body scan of every animal to determine if they have the micro-chip implant.
